Welcome to the College of Lactation Consultants WA
Feel free to look at our pages and discover the work of the College as it endeavours to meet the educational needs of International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLCs) can join as a full member and those working toward certification. We warmly welcome all health professionals, students, peer breastfeeding supporters and anyone interested in breastfeeding and human lactation to attend our meetings, and to join us as an associate member.
Founded in 1998, the College aims to support and promote breastfeeding, foster friendships and provide monthly education meetings. Our meetings are generally held on the 3rd Monday evening of each month, from February to November each year. Monthly Meetings
Hosting of biennial conferences featuring international and national speakers is also a major feature of the College. Details of our Milking the Evidence conference (Sat 11 November 2023) are available here.
Progressing from the CLCWA monthly meetings held at Ngala, and then online during COVID pandemic, we now offer 7 online (zoom) sessions per year as well as some face to face sessions. These face to face sessions are held in various locations, allowing member to network over a meal with like-minded health professionals from ~6pm before listening to the guest speaker session at 7.15pm. Continuing Education Recognition Points (CERPs) can be claimed for the education sessions, contributing to the 5 year reaccreditation by CERPs (as an alternative to re-seating the examination!)
Monthly meetings are free to members; non-members can attend for a fee of $15.00. A certificate of attendance is available if registered on zoom or attending a face to face meeting. You will need a ticket if you are attending as a member or a non member. We will send you the link to get a ticket or it will be on our facebook page. For all non members please make sure you are part of our social facebook group for our ticket link.
Our main way of keeping in touch with you is through our Facebook page. We regularly post details of upcoming meetings, details of our Milking the Evidence conference (11 November), useful information and links. Please like and follow our posts.
Membership is $75 annually, with discounted membership available to students. Members also get discounted registration for the biennial conference, with our next conference scheduled for Saturday 11th November 2023.
